Lane Closures for Bridge and Tunnel Safety Inspections, September 17-28 

Starting Monday, September 17 through Friday, September 28 a series of bridge and tunnel safety inspections will be conducted throughout the District’s highway network.

(Washington, DC) – Starting Monday, September 17 through Friday, September 28 the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will be conducting is series of bridge and tunnel safety inspections throughout the District’s highway network. These activities will require single lane closures during off peak hours between 10 am and 3 pm Monday through Friday, weather permitting.

The required lane closures and inspection activities are scheduled to occur as follows:

Monday, September 17, 2012

  • Southeast Freeway over 3rd Street, SW

There will be a right lane closure of eastbound Southeast Freeway over 3rd Street, SE followed by a right lane closure of westbound Southeast Freeway over 3rd Street, SE

Tuesday, September 18, 2012

  • Southeast Freeway over 3rd Street, SW
  • Southeast Freeway over 4rd Street, SW

There will be a right shoulder closure of the westbound ramp from the Southeast Freeway to I-395 over 3rd Street, SE followed by a right lane closure of westbound southeast Freeway over 4th Street, SE followed by a right lane closure of eastbound Southeast Freeway over 4th Street, SE.

Wednesday, September 19, 2012

  • Southeast Freeway over 4rd Street, SW

There will be a right shoulder closure of the eastbound ramp from the Southeast Freeway to 6th Street over 4rd Street, SE followed by alternating lane closures of southbound 4th Street under the Southeast Freeway.

Thursday September 20, 2012

  • Ramp from I-66 to Whitehurst Freeway

There will be a right lane closure of the ramp from I-66 to the Whitehurst Freeway followed by alternating right lane closures of Potomac Parkway under the ramp.

Friday September 21, 2012

There will be a right lane closure of the ramp from I-66 to the Whitehurst Freeway.

Monday September 24, 2012

  • Massachusetts Avenue, NW over Rock Creek

There will be a right lane closure of northbound Rock Creek Parkway under Massachusetts Avenue, NW followed by a right lane closure of southbound Rock Creek Parkway under the bridge.

Wednesday September 26, 2012

  • Southeast Freeway over 6th Street, SE

There will be a right lane closure of eastbound Southeast Freeway over 6th Street, SE followed by a right lane closure of westbound Southeast Freeway over 6th Street followed by a right lane closure of northbound 6th Street, SE under the freeway followed by a right lane closure of southbound 6th Street under the freeway.

Friday September 28, 2012

  • Park Road, NW over Piney Branch Parkway

There will be a right lane closure of northbound Park Road, NW over Piney Branch Parkway followed by right lane closures of southbound Park Road over Piney Branch Parkway.

Traffic controls will be in place to warn motorists as they approach the areas.

Motorists are advised to stay alert while traveling through these locations and be observant of the inspection personnel.
