(Washington, DC) – The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will be conducting a series of bridge and tunnel safety inspections throughout the District’s highway network between Monday, December 17 and Thursday, December 20. These activities will take place during off peak hours between 10 am and 3 pm, weather permitting.

The required lane closures and inspection activities are scheduled to occur as follows:

Monday, December 17, 2012

• CSX Railroad over Kenilworth Avenue, NE
  There will be a right lane closure of northbound Kenilworth Avenue, NE under the CSX Railroad bridge followed by a right lane closure of southbound Kenilworth Avenue under the bridge.
• Ramp from Northbound South Capitol Street to Westbound Southwest Freeway
  There will be a right shoulder closure of the ramp from northbound South Capitol Street to westbound Southwest Freeway.

Tuesday, December 18, 2012

• Minnesota Avenue, NE over East Capitol Street
  There will be alternating right and left lane closures of eastbound East Capitol Street under Minnesota Avenue followed by alternating right and left lane closures of westbound East Capitol Street under Minnesota Avenue.

Wednesday, December 19, 2012

• Westbound I-695 over 11th Street, SE, CSX, Southeast Freeway and M Street
  There will be a right shoulder closure of 11th Street, SE under I-695 followed by alternating right and left lane closures of eastbound M Street under I-695, followed by alternating right and left lane closures of westbound M Street under I-695.

Thursday, December 20, 2012

• Ramp from Southbound 11th Street Bridge (I-695) to Eastbound Anacostia Freeway (DC 295)
  There will be alternating left and right lane closures of the ramps from eastbound Anacostia Freeway (DC 295) to the northbound 11th Street bridge under the above mentioned bridge.

Traffic controls will be in place to warn motorists as they approach the areas.

Motorists are advised to stay alert while traveling through these locations and be observant of the inspection personnel.
