Overnight Emergency Repairs Continue Tonight Starting at 8 pm on Southbound I-295 Over South Capitol Street – Only One Travel Lane Will be Open.  Bridge Repair and Overlay Activities Also Planned for I-295 Over Howard Road And Suitland Parkway Start Tonight at 8 pm.

(Washington, DC) Starting tonight at 8 pm the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will continue emergency bridge deck repair work on southbound I-295 over South Capitol Street. Additional repairs and overlay activities are also scheduled to begin this evening on the I-295 bridges over Howard Road and Suitland Parkway.

Southbound I-295 Over South Capitol Street

The emergency repair work on southbound I-295 over South Capitol Street will resume tonight starting at 8:30 pm and continue through 5 am tomorrow morning. Single lane closures will be required to conduct this work in a safe manner. Southbound I-295 will be reduced to a single lane at South Capitol Street.

Travelers should anticipate delays as they travel through this segment of the corridor.

I-295 over Howard Road and Suitland Parkway

A series of bridge deck repairs and overlays on the Anacostia Freeway (I-295) over Howard Road and Suitland Parkway is scheduled to start tonight at 8 pm and continue through Monday, November 28, 2011, weather permitting. This work will extend the life of the bridges and make the travel lanes safe for the traveling public.

motorists can expect some delays as the repair work will be performed lane-by-lane. While one travel lane on the bridge is closed for repairs, the two other travel lanes will be kept open.

The repair and overlay activities will be performed during the day between 7 am and 3 pm and during the evening between 8 pm and 5 am the following morning.
