The intersection of Good Hope Road and Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, SE will close from 12 am through 5 pm on Saturday, December 1. Also, 11th Street, SE inbound to Anacostia will closed during this time.
WASHINGTON, DC – The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will close the intersection of Good Hope Road and Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, SE from 12 am through 5 pm on Saturday, December 1. 11th Street, SE inbound to Anacostia will also be closed during this time. The closure will allow DDOT to complete final surface paving and striping at the intersection.
During closure of the intersection signed detours will be posted.
Motorists traveling northbound on Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue will be detoured onto W Street, SE, and then to 13th Street, SE to access Good Hope Road east of the intersection closure
Motorists traveling westbound on Good Hope Road, SE will be detoured via 14th Street, SE, to U Street, SE to access Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue south of the intersection closure.
Motorists traveling southbound on 11th Street, SE to Anacostia will be detoured onto the recently opened ramp to southbound I-295, then to Howard Road, SE, to access Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, SE.
Motorists seeking access to Anacostia from northbound I-295 will be detoured to Firth Sterling Avenue, SE (Exit 3A), onto Howard Road, SE to Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, SE.
Electronic message signs will be in place to provide motorists advanced notice of the scheduled detours.
In the event of inclement weather or other unforeseen conditions, this work will be rescheduled and an updated advisory will be distributed.
This closure is in addition to the previously publicized off-peak closures of the 11th Street bridges, related ramps, local streets, Southeast/Southwest Freeway and I-295/DC 295.
