High Winds Expected in the District Today

Report Downed Trees and Branches to 311

Media Contacts

(Washington, DC) The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for the District and surrounding jurisdictions until 8 pm this evening. Wind gusts of 45-50 MPH are expected this afternoon.

The District Department of Transportation’s Urban Forestry Administration (UFA) will be on call to clear downed trees and debris. Residents are reminded to call the Mayor’s Call Center at 311 to report any downed trees or branches in public space. UFA does not clear debris from private property.
In addition, residents should secure all outdoor items including patio furniture and prepare for other hazards including utility outages. For power outages in the District, please call PEPCO. PEPCO's emergency number is 1-877-PEPCO-62 (1-877-737-2662).

Members of the public are also encouraged to sign up to receive updates on severe weather, traffic and incidents via email and/or text message from ALERT DC at https://textalert.ema.dc.gov.
