The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) announced plans are in place to start work on the reconstruction and resurfacing of Eastern Avenue, NE on or about November 19, weather permitting.
WASHINGTON, DC – The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) announced plans are in place to start work on the reconstruction and resurfacing of Eastern Avenue, NE on or about November 19, weather permitting.
The project includes two sections of Eastern Avenue: from Sargent Road to Galloway Street; and from Michigan Avenue to Randolph Street.
Project Scope
The work will include upgrading the roadway pavement, storm drains, streetlights and traffic signals; repairing and or replacing the existing sidewalks; installing granite curbs and gutters; repairing and or replacing driveway entrances in addition to the water and sewer lines within the project area.
Construction Details
Construction is scheduled to be completed within 365 calendar days, weather permitting, and will typically take place between 9:30 am and 3:30 pm. Monday through Friday. Construction work may also take place during overnight hours and weekends if necessary.
During construction at least one lane of traffic on Eastern Avenue will be kept open in each direction. Access to the adjacent properties will also be maintained.
Curbside parking on Eastern Avenue will be temporarily restricted along the construction areas. The curbside parking at the Eastern Avenue and Varnum Street intersection will remain closed while the project is underway.
Motorists are advised to stay alert and to plan ahead to minimize delays while traveling through this corridor.
