Media Contacts

(Washington, DC) – Starting on or about Monday, July 9 the District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority (DC Water), in coordination with the District Department of Transportation (DDOT), will resume work on M Street, SE between 7th and 11th Streets. The work on M Street will take an estimated 27-month period to complete and will be conducted between 7 am and 7 pm.

Impacts:

  • The work will restrict traffic and parking lanes and will also restrict left-turn movements on M Street at 9th Street and on southbound 7th Street at M Street.

At a minimum two traffic lanes will be kept open in each direction at all times.

Variable message signs will be in place to guide motorists through the area. Drivers and pedestrians are urged to stay alert and use caution when traveling by the work zone.

Project Details:

DC Water is building three diversion sewers on M Street, SE as part of a system that will divert combined sewer overflows (CSOs) to DC Water’s Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant. By nearly eliminating CSOs in the District, this project will improve the health of local waterways.
