High Winds and Heavy Rains Expected in the District Today
Tornado Watch in Effect Until 4pm for DC Area

- The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch until 4pm for the Washington Metropolitan area.

(Washington, DC) The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch until 4pm for the Washington Metropolitan area. Expected thunderstorms will be capable of producing damaging wind gusts up to 70 MPH and isolated tornadoes.
The District Department of Transportation’s Urban Forestry Administration (UFA) will be on call to clear downed trees and debris. Residents are reminded to call the Mayor’s Call Center at 311 to report any downed trees or branches in public space. UFA does not clear debris from private property.
In addition, residents should secure all outdoor items including patio furniture and prepare for other hazards including utility outages. For power outages in the District, please call PEPCO. PEPCO's emergency number is 1-877-PEPCO-62 (1-877-737-2662).
