(Washington, DC) – Today the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) released the M Street SE/SW Transportation Study Final Report.

The report offers short, mid and long term recommendations to mitigate transportation impacts of the future development. Additionally, the report includes three broad transportation alternatives proposed as the result of information and public comments gathered throughout the study. The alternatives represent three starkly contrasting and illustrative scenarios for improving the multi-modal transportation network along M Street SE/SW and adjacent streets.

With the final report, DDOT is concluding this stage of the planning process in anticipation of advancing to a more detailed federal environmental planning, or National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), study of premium transit for the study area while also initiating the short-term neighborhood transportation improvements.

The final report, three-dimensional animated models of the proposed alternatives, presentations from the study’s three public meetings and related informational materials can be viewed by visiting www.anacostiawaterfront.org/MStreetSESWStudy External Website.

For more information, email Colleen Hawkinson at ddot.awi@dc.gov, or call (202) 671-0617.

The study was conducted to identify transportation issues and potential solutions that will help to encourage livable and sustainable neighborhoods. The focus area lies within a roughly 1.7-square-mile area along M Street SE/SW and the Southwest Waterfront from 12th Street, SE to 14th Street, SW and from the Southwest/Southeast Freeway south to the Anacostia River/Washington Channel.
