(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will host a public meeting on Tuesday, May 29 to update community members on the proposed construction for the First Street, NE Reconstruction Project that is scheduled to begin this fall.
As part of the project 1st Street, NE will be reconstructed from K Street to New York Avenue and will include a two way cycle track on the east side of 1st Street and improved ADA compatible pedestrian facilities.
From K Street to G Street, the roadway will be milled, overlaid and restriped to create the two way cycle track that will connect to Columbus Circle.
Also as part of this project, the signals and street lights will be upgraded and new sidewalks will be installed along blocks that have not recently been developed or are under construction. The crosswalks at major intersections will treated with special material for safety and aesthetic purposes and utility work will also be performed on the storm drainage systems.
