DDOT to Provide Construction Update on Sherman Avenue Streetscape Project

(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is hosting a meeting to update the public on the Sherman Avenue Streetscape Project that is currently underway between Park Road and Florida Avenue.

At this meeting DDOT staff will provide an update on the project schedule, details about the maintenance of traffic plan and other related activities that will occur during construction.

Construction on this $13 million project started in November 2010 with water-main utility work and is scheduled to be completed in late 2012, weather permitting.

This project will:

  • Reshape Sherman Avenue into a residential street and improve safety for pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists;
  • Upgrade the DC Water lines and improve the drainage system; and
  • Enhance the appearance of the neighborhood through aesthetic improvements that include new landscaping and lighting.
