DDOT to Host Public Meeting for Far Southeast II Livability Study

(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation is hosting a public meeting to present the proposed transportation and mobility improvements that were identified through the Far Southeast II Livability Study.

The Far Southeast II Livability Study was initiated in May 2010. Over the course of the study, two previous public meetings have been held to engage residents in useful discussions about transportation and livability related issues in their communities. The April 27 meeting is the last in the series of public meetings for this study. Residents are encouraged to participate and provide feedback to help finalize the study.

Meeting Information:

The meeting will be held in the large conference room.

The meeting location is accessible from Metrobus routes 90, P1, P2 and P6. On-street parking is available on Good Hope Road and Martin Luther King Avenue. Parking is also available in the garage at the DHCD building (entrance from Good Hope Road). There is a $2 charge.

Livability Program Overview

Far Southeast is one of 3 multi-neighborhood areas DDOT is currently evaluating as part of its new Livability Program. The studies support not only DDOT’s desire to create more “livable” spaces for residents but also US DOT’s recent Livability Initiative which includes goals to provide more transportation choices, provide more sustainable alternatives, safer streets, and improve the quality of life and opportunity for residents.

A website is available that links to each study, provides information on the public outreach component, highlights discussions and recommendations, and allows for further interaction from the community.
