A public hearing will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 to provide information and receive comments about the Oregon Avenue Environmental Assessment (EA)
(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) are hosting a public hearing on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 to provide information and receive comments about the Oregon Avenue Environmental Assessment (EA).
The project involves the rehabilitation of Oregon Avenue between Military Road and Western Avenue, along the northwestern border of Rock Creek Park, to address current infrastructure deficiencies as well as community and safety concerns.
The EA for the rehabilitation of Oregon Avenue is in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act. The EA evaluates the proposed improvements to the 1.7-mile section of roadway on Oregon Avenue and documents the alternatives considered, their potential impacts, costs and mitigations.
Maps, displays, and copies of the EA will be available at the public hearing. A presentation will be made at 6:30 pm and the opportunity for public testimony will begin at 7 pm. Both oral and written statements will be taken at the public hearing.
