(Washington, DC) – The District Department of Transportation (DDOT), the 11th Street Bridge DBE Project Management Team and the District Department of Housing and Community Development are hosting a “Vertical vs. Horizontal” Contracting Workshop.

This session will explore the differences and similarities that exist within vertical (commercial/residential) construction and horizontal (heavy highway/infrastructure) construction. Contract requirements; equipment needs; construction delivery methods; and much more will be discussed to provide contractors with the information and access to resources needed to expand their business. In addition to the expanded business opportunity participants will learn about the Federal DBE certification program and how this program can benefit you as a small business.

Local and regional infrastructure program managers will review opportunities to maximize business capacity on Federally-funded procurement contracts. There will also be a dialogue regarding the 11th Street Bridge Project Completion Phase (horizontal) construction.

The event will be held on Monday, July 23, 2012 from 6 pm to 8:30 pm at the Anacostia Gateway Government Center (in the Housing Center Resource Ballroom), 1800 Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, SE.
