(Washington, DC) – The District Department of Transportation’s (DDOT) 11th Street Project Management Team is hosting a Cost Estimating Workshop on February 28, 2013. The purpose of the workshop is to help disadvantaged businesses enterprise firms (DBE) and other potential subcontracting partners access cost estimating resources and learn how best to prepare bids for future work contracts. Scott Randle, Project Manager, Skanksa/Facchina Joint Venture Operations and Rodney Renix, DBE Corporate DBE Compliance Officer, Skanska USA Civil Southeast are guest trainers for this workshop.

Specifically, the workshop will focus on the foundation of cost estimating on construction- related contracts while emphasizing how to:

  • identify lost profits prior to job start-up;
  • where to obtain bid documents;
  • review scopes and specifications;
  • quantity take-off;
  • price;
  • how to write and submit proposals; and

This session will be held in a “town hall meeting” format and provide an opportunity for attendees to ask questions that are critical for navigating successfully through the estimating and bidding process. Representatives from DDOT and the project team will be on hand to answer questions.
