District Crews Continue to Clean Up Tree Related Storm Debris 

To date DDOT has received over 1,700 service requests associated with the storm which has generated 900 work orders.

(Washington, DC) – The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) announced progress continues to be made on the District wide tree debris cleanup efforts that have been underway following last week’s storm. To date DDOT has received over 1,700 service requests associated with the storm which has generated 900 work orders.

Crews from DDOT’s Urban Forestry Administration (UFA) with assistance from crews from the Department of Public Works (DPW) have now shifted their focus to removing tree related storm debris block by block throughout the District. Crews are also following Pepco in locations where wires are tangled in downed trees.

Tips / Resources:

  • Call 311 or go online at 311.dc.gov to report downed trees and branches in public space.
  • Trees and branches that fall on or from private property are the responsibility of the property owners.
  • Stay away from downed wires as they could be energized and electrical contact could be fatal.
  • Through Saturday, July 7 DPW will continue to assist residents who are cleaning up after the storm. DPW will be removing debris that are placed in treebox spaces and will also be accepting debris at the Ft. Totten Transfer Station at 4900 John F. McCormack Road, NE, weekdays between 1 pm and 5 pm, and Saturday, July 7, between 8 am and 3 pm. For more information please visit the DPW website.
