DDOT Circulator Service Interrupted Due to Winter Storm

(Washington, DC) - The District Department of Transportation has announced service to the popular DC Circulator line in Georgetown has been interrupted due to the winter storm.

"The DC Circulator is committed to operating safely during the snowstorm and during its cleanup, but can only do so as road conditions allow.  The snow fall is coming in rapidly and as such buses returning late last night were having difficulty making it up the hill on Whitehaven Parkway," said DDOT Director Gabe Klein.  "Safety is always our top priority and as such we feel at this time we need to reroute this route."

Effective at 7am Saturday December 19, 2009 the Union Station – Georgetown route will be rerouted to serve lower K Street westbound and M Street eastbound in Georgetown.  Wisconsin Avenue will not be served north of M Street.  Passengers on Wisconsin Avenue may use Metrobus routes 31, 32, and 36.

Also, service to the parking garage at Union Station may be suspended depending on the ongoing conditions of the ramps into the garage.  Crews have been salting but below freezing temperatures are making for icy conditions .  If necessary, personnel will be stationed at the entrance to the parking garage stop (at the escalators) to direct passengers if a rerouting is put into effect

DDOT and WMATA will continue to monitor and evaluate service as the storm progresses.  There are no further operations changes at this time.  All other routes are running as scheduled.
