The CCCB is currently reviewing the 2012 edition of the International Codes published by the International Code Council (ICC) and the 2011 edition of the National Electrical Code published by the National Fire Protection Association (collectively the “2012 I-Codes”). Proposals for changes, deletions and/or additions to the 2012 I-Codes have been, or are in the process of being, submitted to the CCCB by the Technical Advisory Groups. Code change proposals approved by the CCCB are provided under related services (to the right).
Any individual or entity may submit a petition for the CCCB’s review and approval of a change, deletion or addition to the I-Codes. For instructions as to how to submit a petition for the review and approval of a change, deletion or addition to the I-Codes refer to the separate instruction sheet and petition form.
Following completion of its work, the CCCB forwards its recommendations to the Mayor as a proposed rulemaking subject to public comments and action by the City Council. The CCCB expects to complete its work in 2012, with anticipated adoption of the District's 2013 Construction Codes in the first quarter of 2013.
The proposed 2013 Construction Codes Supplement can be viewed on the DCRA website here. The public comment period on the notice of proposed rulemaking closed on February 22, 2013.
