 This law takes effect for all existing entities and for all entities formed after the rollout date. All of the substantive entity statutes are placed in Title 29 with a set of definitions, formation requirements, administrative and transactional provisions that apply to all entities. DCRA Corporations division will start registering statutory trusts and limited cooperative associations – two new entity types under the law.

Implementation of New Corporations Law

 On January 3, 2012 DCRA will start implementation of the District of Columbia Official Code Title 29 (Business Organizations) Enactment Act of 2010.

This law takes effect for all existing entities and for all entities formed after the rollout date.

All of the substantive entity statutes are placed in Title 29 with a set of definitions, formation requirements, administrative and transactional provisions that apply to all entities.

DCRA Corporations division will start registering statutory trusts and limited cooperative associations – two new entity types under the law.

Our website will provide relevant information pertaining to retrieval of forms, fees, filing online, by mail or in person for all domestic and foreign filing entities. Corporate Registration website and CorpOnline service is in the process of being updated to incorporate all changes for domestic and foreign business corporations, limited liability companies, general partnerships, limited partnerships, limited liability partnerships, non-profit corporations, professional corporations, general and limited cooperative associations and statutory trusts.
