The DDOE is the designated Floodplain Administrator and the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) Coordinating agency of the District of Columbia. DDOE coordinates with
FEMA on NFIP and the floodplain management program in the District. DDOE, in coordination with the DCRA, reviews and approves all development in floodplain areas
in compliance with DC’s floodplain regulations, minimum NFIP requirements, and flood provisions in the DC’s Building Code
